You’ll need: an email. If you already paid, have the key ready. S3 is not required to watch.
- Open Pro from Home.
- Sign in or register so PayPal can turn Pro on for this account.
- Tap $7 (month), $49 (year), or $129 (lifetime). Tick the one line about hosting your own files. Pay with PayPal.
- On the thanks page, tap Copy key, then paste it under License on this server, or into the Linux app from deimos.tv.
Done when License shows Pro. No lock-in contract. Monthly is $7 and auto-renews until you tap Turn off auto-renew on Pro or License (or cancel in PayPal). You keep Pro until the date already paid. Yearly ($49) and lifetime ($129) are one-time keys. Yearly is $35 less than 12 months. Lifetime never expires. Pro on the Linux app encodes 1080p and 720p. This website does not encode.
Buy Pro on the shop ($7/month, $49/year, or $129 lifetime), copy the key, and paste it under License. This server does not mint keys. Your films stay on your disk or your S3.
02 · Use
Home, videos, live
While a film is playing: left/right skip 10 seconds, OK pause, Back leaves. If it starts silent, tap the picture once (Unmute). The player cannot unmute the device itself.
Add a video. YouTube or a public MP4: Upload → paste the URL (Free). A file from this server: Upload → choose the MP4 (Free up to the cap, Pro for more). A file already in your bucket: Storage → paste the keys → Upload.
Storj, Filebase, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, MinIO. Watching the library, IPTV, live, gallery, and together does not need S3. Member files never sit on Deimos disks.
02a · YouTube
Paste a YouTube link
You’ll need: an account. A public YouTube URL. No encode. Free plan included.
- Home → Upload → paste the YouTube URL (watch page or youtu.be). Save.
- It appears under Videos. Play it in this player — not a new browser tab.
- On the watch page, tap CC for captions. The YouTube CC control is often dead on auto-captions. Captions follow the browser language when YouTube has a track.
Done when the title is in Videos. Private or age-gated YouTube links may refuse embed. That is YouTube, not Deimos.
02c · Gallery
Photos on the big screen
You’ll need: an account. Photos from this device. Optional MP3 for a loop.
- Home → Gallery. Tiles are 16:9. Tap a show to play it full screen.
- Add photos → title, seconds per photo (2–30), pick JPGs/PNGs (GIF/WebP too). Optional music. Create.
- On the slideshow: Prev, Pause, Next, Mute, Gallery, Home.
Free: up to 30 photos. Pro: up to 80. Soundtrack loops. Prefer MP3.
02d · Encode
How videos are encoded
Encode on the Linux app from deimos.tv. This website only plays. It does not take the master file and it does not run ffmpeg. The Linux app needs ffmpeg on that computer.
- Free encodes 720p H.264 + AAC and does not scale a smaller file up.
- Pro ($7/month, $49/year, or $129 lifetime) also makes 1080p when the source is at least that tall, then 720p. There is no 4K encode on this plan.
- Admin on the Linux app shows the queue: waiting, encoding, done, or failed, how many are ahead, and cancel for a job that is still waiting. One rendition runs at a time.
- Point Storage at a bucket you own if you want this website to play a copy. The master stays on the Linux computer.
- On the Linux app, Pro can scan a bucket you already filled and add those videos to the shelf. The file stays in the bucket. It is not downloaded and it is not encoded. mp4 and webm play in the browser on that app.
This player plays the file. It does not transcode uploads. Windows and Mac use this website. The Linux download is the app that keeps and encodes files.
02e · IPTV
Public live list and your M3U
Two different files. The playlist is an M3U list of names and URLs. The stream is what actually plays (YouTube, HLS, MP4). This player does not sell channels.
- Public is a small legal demo: official 24/7 YouTube lives (NASA ISS, Al Jazeera, Sky News, France 24, Euronews, and others). Those play on phones, computers, smart TVs, and built-in screens.
- HLS (
.m3u8) is what most paid IPTV packages use. It plays in a normal browser and on most smart TVs. Some older built-in screens cannot decode HLS — they stay black. Use Public (YouTube) on those, or import HLS only where a full browser exists. - Add M3U — a URL or a file you have the right to use. Tick Live for TV/news/cameras, or On demand for films and episodes. Optional XMLTV guide matches
tvg-id.
The player reads M3U / M3U8 (tvg-logo, tvg-id, group-title). Streams: YouTube, Twitch, HLS, HTTP MPEG-TS, MP4/WebM. Not Xtream login APIs, DASH (.mpd), or raw RTMP/RTSP in the IPTV menu (those belong in Live / OBS). Free: 1 of your own playlists (Public does not count), 250 channels. Pro: unlimited lists, 2,000 channels each. Do not import pirate “free IPTV” dumps.
03 · Together
Watch with others
You’ll need: an account. A guest key only if you don’t already have Pro.
- Sign in.
- If playback is locked, open Guest Key and pay for your account ($7 / $49 / $129, same PayPal).
- Watch. You stay on the same second as the host. Tick I am the remote only if they want you to control the film.
Done when the status line shows more than one person watching.
04 · Help
If something fails
The film is silent
The player tries to start with sound. If it starts muted, tap the picture once — that is Unmute. The player cannot override the device volume mute.
CC / captions do nothing
On YouTube titles, use the CC button next to Prev / Next (the YouTube CC control is often dead on auto-captions). Captions follow your browser language when YouTube has a track. MP4 files only show captions if the file includes them.
Where do I pay / get the key?
Home → Pro. Pick $7, $49, or $129, then Pay with PayPal. No lock-in: monthly auto-renews until you cancel in PayPal; yearly and lifetime are one-time keys. The next screen is your key: Copy key, then paste it under License. If you already have a key, Pro → I have a key → paste → Unlock. Shop keys work the same under License.
Pro does nothing
Only the owner of this player can activate it. Visitors use Guest Key. If this player is already activated, it will not mint a second account. Activate this TV is only on the TV you bought — phones, computers, and smart TVs use PayPal or paste a key.
I paid but have no key
The thanks page shows the key. Copy it. If the page is empty, wait a few seconds and refresh. Then Pro → I have a key, or License → paste → Activate.
I forgot my password
Cinema cannot email a reset yet. Register a new username if you never stored the old one. Do not send passwords in chat. Owner: Pro is one account per player — activating again does not mint a second login.
Gallery looks empty / buttons are small
Open Gallery from Home (not only Add photos). Sign in to add a show. Play uses large Prev / Pause / Next orbs along the bottom. Home is the house button.
Video posters look cropped or barred
Home → Videos. Tiles follow the picture: landscape stills use 16:9, movie posters use 2:3. YouTube uses a landscape still (not the barred thumbnail). Pro: My videos → Poster shape Auto / 16:9 / 2:3, optional new image, Save poster.
An IPTV channel won’t play
Public tiles are YouTube lives. If one fails, that live may have ended or blocked embed — try another News or Space tile. HLS (.m3u8) from your own M3U needs a normal browser or smart TV; older built-in screens stay black on HLS. Dead or geo-locked URLs fail in every player — re-import the list.
Upload wants storage keys
Create a bucket with your storage host, paste the keys under Storage, then upload. You do not need this just to watch Cinema or IPTV.
How are my uploads encoded?
On the Linux app from deimos.tv. Free encodes 720p H.264 + AAC. Pro also encodes 1080p when the file is that tall, and does not scale up. One rendition at a time. No 4K. This website plays and does not encode.
